Okeechobee Bass Fishing

What is the best time of the year to catch large bass on Lake Okeechobee?

The Lake fishes great all year but Sept. thru Nov. would be a good time to target that lunker. All winter there are numerous big bass caught as well in between cold fronts.

What do I need to bring?

It is recommended to bring a light jacket, hat, drinks, snacks, sunscreen and camera. A cooler with ice is provided on board. Capt. Bob suggests to bring rod setups you are comfortable with if you are going on an artificial fishing trip. All equipment is provided for live bait fishing. How many persons can go?

3 People maximum per boat. Group trips or corporate trips are also available with courteous and professional guides. Feel free to contact Capt. Bob so that he can help you plan your Okeechobee bass fishing trip in advance.

Do I need a license?

Yes, persons over age 16 need to obtain Florida fishing license. Available on line at

Can I Bring small children?

Yes, Capt. Bob volunteers his services to the local youth fishing club and loves to teach young anglers.

Okeechobee Duck Hunting

What do I need to bring?

Basically you need hunting licenses, duck stamps, gun, shells and waders. Most hunters also bring drinks and snacks. All other equipment is provided. For more information see our Okeechobee duck hunting page.

What type of shells should I shoot?

#2 thru #4 high brass steel shot is recommended. Steel shot is required by law.

Do I need a plug in my gun?

Yes, hunters are required to obey all laws; only 3 shells per gun.

Can I bring my own decoys?

Yes you can use whatever you are comfortable with. If you don’t have decoys Bob will provide them and set them up for you.

What kind of ducks will I shoot?

Mostly puddle ducks are targeted such as teal, mottled ducks, shovelers, pintails etc... Water is usually below waist deep. Diving ducks are usually abundant as well such as ringnecks and bluebills although the water is deeper.

Okeechobee Gator Hunting

What should I bring?

Do I need a license?

Yes, if you are planning to use our tags you need an agent license available at for approx. $52.00. If you have your own tags you are already licensed.

Can I get bit?

Yes you can get bit or even worse!! Capt. Bob practices and preaches safety, in his 18 years of hauling gator hunters there has never been one injury. All clients came back with all limbs.

Why are gator hunts so expensive?

There is a lot of preparation and gear for gator hunting. Days are spent before the season even begins preparing the gear and boats so that you have the best chance at your trophy. Be cautious of cut rate guide services our hunts are professionally done. If you compare prices of big game hunts for elk, mule deer, whitetail etc… gator hunts are much more economical even when trophy gator hunting. Also tags are provided in cost as opposed to other big game hunts.

What time of day do we hunt?

Gator hunting hours are currently 5:00 pm – 10:00 am. Be prepared for long nights as Capt. Bob will not stop until you bag your trophy.
